Hey, look, I'm still here!

I guess I've just been posting to cross_stitch, because it's been over a month since my last post of substance. If you're curious to see what I've been working on, you can check out finished projects in my DeviantArt gallery and works in progress in my scrapbook.

Lessee, what's new around here? Not much. I'm working somewhat steadily. I met with one of the accountants I work with last month for some tax advise, and got some happy news. I asked him if I was putting aside enough money to cover our self-employed taxes, but not an excessive amount, short-changing us on our day-to-day cash. Turns out I was withholding more that was necessary, so hopefully we'll have a little better cash flow now. I also asked him about the tax write-off potential for health insurance for the self-employed. Turns out if I get Blue Shield or something like that, my premium, plus that of all of my dependents, is 100% tax deductible! Plus, he said that either this year or next year (he couldn't remember for sure), the IRS is going to make it a deduction on the Schedule C for the business, rather than on the 1040 personal side, so it will not only reduce the income taxes due, but the self-employment taxes too. I really need to look into the cost of policies now. It would be such a relief to have John and I insured, and to get the boys back with their real doctor.

I also want to look into the price of preschool for Ryan. I doubt it in the cards for us right now, but I would like him to get some social interaction with kids his own age (as opposed to the older kids he mostly plays with now), and a start on learning his ABCs and whatnot. Speaking of school, Andrew starts 1st grade in 3 weeks! I can not wait for him to be back in school! He is a boy that very much need routine and structure in his daily life, and he's driving me crazy. He's been whiney, fussy, and arguementative lately, and I just want to throttle him. Having him out of the house and out of my hair so I can work for 6 hours or so will be so nice! Maybe Ryan's attitude would improve too if his brother is not here to feed off of, too. I am getting so tired of my two-year old telling me to "go away" and "be quite".

On a more positive note, I started back jogging in the mornings this week. I had to take some time off because I was getting shin splints. Owie! But they seem to have healed, and I got some better shoe inserts with good arch support for my tennies, so hopefully it won't be a problem any more. I'm also going to try alternating running and working out in the garage, to work on my core strength and to give my legs a bit of a rest. John says he wants to try and get up with me on the workout days, we'll see if I can actually convince him to get up at 6:30 in the morning, though (didn't work this morning).

Well, it's Ryan's bedtime, better go do the mom thing. Hope all is well with any one reading this. ^_^

Yes, slowly but surely, I think things are looking up. Though I don't want to say that too loud, I don't want to catch Murphey's attention again. o.o

I hear you there. Are we still on to carpool to West Sac on Saturday?

As long as John doesn't have to work, I think so. I really should mention to him I'm planning to go out that day...I have been so scatterbrained lately.

I mentioned it to Dan, and he was so relieved that HE didn't have to go that he didn't even protest me leaving him with the kids XD

LOL! Granted, if Karl knew Dan better, he might have invited him to the "Baby Kegger" (the GUY Baby Shower). He might have gone after all! ;)

*chuckle* Perhaps . . . but that would have left the question of who to leave the kids with . . . it works better this way XD

uh...shouldn't that be the other way around??? XD

you would think so, wouldn't you. He's got quite the attitude lately. Andrew went through the "traumatic twos" as my mother-in-law put it, where everything was "oh woe is me" overdramaitzed. Ryan is definitely the stereotypical "terrible twos".
