Long overdue update

Hey, look, I'm still around. :)

Haven't posted in a really long time. I've been so busy, I guess leaving blurbs on my Facebook account has just been easier lately. My business is going well for the most part, though it's almost to the point of more than I can handle. I'm slowly catching up, though. If everything goes according to plan (haha), I should be mostly caught back up by the end of this week.

Got to see my parents last weekend. Dad made Ryan a loft bed like Andrew's, and was nice enough to drive it all the way up here from Arizona. It's been wonderful, Ryan actually stays in his room and goes to sleep at bedtime now instead of sneeking into his brother's room!

Andrew's just about finished the first trimester of 1st Grade now. He's kind of struggling. :( My first official parent-teacher conference is this week, at which I'll get his first report card. I say first official one because it seems like I've had unofficial ones with her several times a week since the start of scholl. He's a bit of a dreamer, and it's affecting his school work, and sometimes casues him to be a bit of an interuption to the class. Luckly, his teacher can see what an intelligent child he really is, and is determined to help him focus and harness his potental.

Speaking of focus, he's also decided he doesn't want to do karate anymore, at least right now. And I'm trying to respect that, though I think the descipline they teach in class is just what he needs right now. But I've seen how kids that don't want to be there, but their parents force them, can be in class, and I don't want to do that to the instructors. Maybe when Ryan's three and starts in the Little Cubs class in January, I can get Andrew to try again. I'd really like to go back to class, too, but just can't seem to fit it into my schedule right now. Again, maybe in January. On Mondays/Wednesdays, they have Ryan's class, Andrew's class, my class, bing-bing-bing, all in a row...

John is officially healed up from his knee injuries, and going back to class. He's been told he's a candidate for 3rd degree black belt at the test this coming Spring, so he's hoping to get back in condition before then. If he hadn't blown his knee summer of last year, he would have tested this past spring. He's testing with a good group, one of whom was in his 1st Degree testing group, and one of whom was in his 2nd Degree group.

For the moment, the cars seem to be behaving themselves *knock wood*. The Saturn's replacement transmission went out on us on a trip to San Fran for John's family reunion in October. That really sucked. It has another replacement now, and seems to be okay, but between the two, we added $2300 to our credit card debt this year. *faiint*. We've decided it's not allowed to go more than about 30 miles from home any more. Farther than that, we'll take the van, even if the gas mileage isn't quite as good. We've also got AAA Plus membership now, so that we get free towing, up to 100 miles per year, if need be. Towing it home from San Fran has already used up over half those miles for this year, though.

I'm still working on my stitching. Finished a couple things off my ginormous gift list. You can see the latest here. Right now I've been working on bookmarks as gifts for next month, but neither John nor I can really get up the desire to care enough to make enough for all the family like we did with the ornaments last year. Very few of last year's recipients we gave them to in person seemed to care about the time and effort we put into them. Many of the people I mailed them to never even acknowledged receipt of them! So why bother? We've already made enough for the core group of close friend and a select few relatives. Though I would like to at least finish one full set, so I at least feel like I got my money's worth buying the pattern. You can see what we've done so far here.

Last night I started a new project, for my SIL that is currently battling leukemia. It's the Breast Cancer Awareness Mandala, as seen at the bottom of this page, though Ii've altered the colors to leukemia-orange. Underneath it, I've charted out the What Cancer Cannot Do Poem. I think it will be quite beautiful when it's done. I'll have WIP pics of it soon, so check my DeviantArt account. from time to time for updates.

Well, that's about it. Hope you are all doing well.
